Norman McLaren response

I loved this film.  I'm a huge fan of jazz music and the visuals felt like an extension of the music, which I really enjoyed.  The footage really matched with the tone of the music; the fast parts were accompanied by fun organic lines, whereas the more serious parts consisted of straighter, more static lines.  I was actually pretty impressed by it.  Knowing how long it takes to even make a few seconds of footage like that and how difficult it must have been to synch up the image to the sound, I thought it was a really beautiful piece of work.  I especially liked the parts that made it seem as if little animals are jumping around.  It made the song seem more playful and easy-going.
His use of color was great and exciting and complimentary to the music.  I couldn't tell if two different songs were used, but I think that might relate more to the ambiguity of jazz.  I wonder how long this film took to make (to draw).  I also wonder what frame rate he used.
